Responsibilities
- Provide timely and proportionate advice to stakeholders around the Bank
- Conduct horizon scanning, helping to keep the Bank abreast of all key upcoming regulatory change
- Review and updating policies, ensuring they’re digestible and understandable
- Producing and delivering training, awareness and compliance communications
- Update, maintain, and review Compliance Registers including managing the Bank’s conflicts framework, the framework around personal account dealing and market abuse, breach management
- Researching the impact of new initiatives and providing SME guidance to business areas
- Advising and nurturing more junior members of the team
Requirements
- Banking compliance experience is ideal, particularly if more than two years. Experience within a similar product set to us is also preferred (deposits, current accounts and commercial lending)
- Solid knowledge of FCA/PRA Handbooks and the UK regulatory framework as a whole
- US regulatory knowledge is a welcome optional extra
- An engaged mind – demonstrates a real keenness to apply themselves. Is present at work and throws everything they can at the role
- Grasps the opportunity – doesn’t rest on their laurels but takes the chance to acquire new skills and put those into practice
- ‘Sponges’ knowledge – has a strong appetite to learn and develop, is inquisitive and interested
- Relationship champion – can work with all levels of people, can influence and be engaging
- Puts in the effort – respects the organisation and the team by being super diligent at all times

Our story
OakNorth Bank was built on the foundations of frustrations with old-school banking. In 2005, when our founders tried to get capital for their data analytics company, the computer said ‘no’. Unfortunately, all major banks in the UK were using the same computer – and it was broken.
Why was it so difficult for a profitable business with impressive cashflow, retained clients, and clear commercial success to get a loan?
The industry was backward-looking and too focused on historic financials, rather than future potential.
