Compliance Manager

This role is responsible for the execution of the credit union’s Compliance Program.  The credit union’s Compliance Program has been designed to align with an Enterprise Risk Management philosophy. This role participates in the development of credit union products and services to existing and potential members and Interacts with all credit union management, personnel, and the Board of Directors (“BOD”).

What you will do:

  • Serve as coordinator of the credit union’s Compliance Committee, as described within the Compliance Committee Charter and Compliance Program.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the Compliance Department Staff.
  • Serve as coordinator for the Policy Committee of the Board of Directors, adhering to the Policy Committee Charter and Procedures, with support from the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Perform risk assessments to advise whether the credit union’s products, processes, and documentation are consistent with the credit union’s risk appetite.  Provide guidance to management and Compliance Committee regarding areas of risk exposure and propose options to manage the risks identified. 
  • Actively monitor regulatory changes and inform management and staff of changes that could affect their specific operations and related policies or procedures.  Interpret and disseminate information on regulatory matters. Provide ongoing advice regarding regulatory changes to all personnel affected.
  • Research regulatory compliance matters and positions, as requested by Management.
  • Provide supervision for the “Compliance Help” email channel to ensure timely, accurate, and well-written replies to employee inquiries. Develop and maintain procedures governing the activities of this service, and coordinate with Operations and Training Departments to optimize efforts related to employee inquiries.
  • Provide compliance and risk support for project teams as directed by the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Ensure the vendor management software routines are executed accurately and timely.
  • Oversee the annual unclaimed property identification, due diligence, and reporting. Maintain updated procedures governing entity-wide escheatment routines. 
  • Provide support to the Training Department to develop and provide effective compliance education through in-person and online channels.
  • Responsible for tracking, researching, and responding to complaints submitted to regulatory agencies and the Better Business Bureau.
  • Provide Risk Reviews for marketing materials.
  • Assist in any area as directed by your supervisor. 

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required.
  • At least 7 - 10 years of related experience in an audit, compliance, or risk management role.
  • Strong verbal, written and public speaking skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and laws and disseminate information.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations within the credit union industry, with industry compliance credentials preferred (i.e. CUCE, NCCO, BSACS).
