About the role:
The Compliance Manager ensures all business units comply with regulatory requirements by developing and maintaining compliance programs, policies, and practices. This includes overseeing compliance examinations, tracking legal changes, and implementing necessary updates.
As the primary Compliance resource for Align Balance LLC, a licensed third-party collection agency managing Enova’s late stage charged off consumer loan products, the Manager will develop and maintain a Compliance Management System (CMS) for collections, including in-house teams, external agencies, law firms, and debt buyers. The Manager will collaborate with Align Balance leadership to lead compliance initiatives and provide guidance on regulatory matters.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, particularly collection laws such as FDCPA, Reg F, TCPA, FCRA, UDAAP, SCRA, GLBA, and state-specific laws (e.g., Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), while overseeing responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.
- Develop and implement risk-based compliance policies, procedures, and controls across business units, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations.
- Lead compliance training programs and identify gaps in policies, processes, or procedures, implementing necessary improvements.
- Conduct root cause analysis of compliance, credit, and operational risks, offering solutions and corrective actions.
- Manage regulatory change initiatives and collaborate with senior management to address findings from audits or assessments.
- Supervise Operational Auditors and evaluate compliance risks associated with third-party service providers impacted by FDCPA, TCPA, or other regulatory requirements.
- Foster a risk-aware culture and promote best practices in compliance management throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in compliance, law, risk management, or collection and recovery operations, including people management.
- Strong knowledge of US consumer financial regulatory requirements, particularly related to first- and third-party collections (e.g., FDCPA, Reg F, TCPA, FCRA).
- Experience with state and federal regulatory examinations, and interactions with regulatory bodies like the CFPB, FDIC, or OCC (supervisory or enforcement experience preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to independently conduct compliance-related research and translate complex data into actionable insights.
- CRCM designation preferred.
