POSITION TITLE:  Community Engagement Coordinator - Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Team (MMMRT) 
LOCATION: Hybrid – Massachusetts (Boston)
POSITION END DATE: 06/30/2025
SALARY:  up to $90,150 (plus benefits)


OVERVIEW

The CDC Foundation seeks a Community Engagement Coordinator to provide program support and coordination for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Team (MMMRT). This position is responsible for conducting key informant interviews and working with community members on the MMMRT.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

•High school diploma or GED
•Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in community outreach work, e.g. social work, public health, behavioral health, or public policy. 
•Excellent listening skills to understand the individual situation of a community member. Able to establish trust when communicating with community members.
•Ability to understand the challenges in the communities and differences in attitudes and beliefs towards health issues and solutions.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to convey information in an empathetic and positive manner.
•Follow established procedures including obtaining information from community members and maintaining it in compliance with the standards of the health department.
•Ability to identify and engage partners and stakeholders, foster new or current partnerships and conduct outreach and community engagement activities.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree in social work preferred.
•Bereavement training and experience.
•Proven ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct.
•Previous experience working in multicultural workplaces and settings.
•Flexible and adaptable. Able to work as part of a team.


RESPONSIBILITIES 

•Develop a workplan and timeline for piloting informant interviews of family members.  
•Conduct informant interviews of family members.
•Build and maintain standard process and procedures to allow the MMMRT to scale informant interviews so that all deaths sent for Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee (MMMRC) review will have interviews of family members to assist in providing a complete picture surrounding the death.  
•Provide oversight and management of the community members engaged in the MMMRC, which includes conducting regular check-ins with community members, organizing any additional trainings needed for the community members, and managing the contract with the agency identified to provide compensation to community members for their time and contribution to the MMMRC.  
•Work with the MMMRC to set community agreements, ensure the use of non-clinical, accessible language during case presentations and Committee deliberations, and ensure that all members feel supported, respected, and valued.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in order to best support the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in their public health programming.

This position is currently a hybrid position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
