Communications Manager (Fixed Term Contract)

We are looking for a Communications Manager, Engineering and Technology Communications, to lead our engineering communications activity in India and involves developing and executing local communications strategies and media programs to support LinkedIn’s engineering organization and highlight our technological innovation. While this role will report to the Global Engineering Communications lead, they will work closely with the Indian communications lead and the APAC communications team to align local and regional priorities and support larger campaigns. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of technology and trends within the Indian context, be able to work cross-functionally, and have a passion for technology media and storytelling. Success in this role requires problem-solving skills, strong stakeholder management and the ability to work in ambiguity working both independently and as part of a team. Here are the key deliverables of the role:

Overall content development/management and admin:

• Ongoing development and management of local R&D innovation narrative.
• Narrative to include talent initiatives. 
• Development and management of India Eng blog content.
• 2 x quarter India focused talent spotlights (owned content) + development of associated content and relevant earned opportunities.
• Increase eng blogs from India by 3-6 x quarter (can be leveraged for earned media). Blog content to focus on Indian innovation.
• Support on global content review where applicable
• Review all relevant local Indian engineering speaker engagements
• Monthly report on activity to Samir/TA/local eng leadership

Earned media:

• Management of local earned activity and ongoing proactive press calender for relevant media (tech/lifestyle for talent/business). 
• Development of new media relationships in market for LinkedIn with technical media.
• Earned story mining and proactive media relations generation for India market.
• Partner with trust comms on relevant local campaign
• Support on global campaigns in India where relevant.
• Increase in earned media KPIs in India - tech/talent stories
• Earned media support in India (6-12 stories quarter)

Executive profiling:

• Identity and lead on proactive Tier 1 external speaking engagements. 1 x quarter top tier speaking opportunities for engineering execs (paid).  Potential to leverage visiting VPs.
• 1-3 x quarter pieces of on platform content for key engineering executives to support (Kumaresh, Malai, new AI lead, Vinay)
• Management of engineering leadership visits to India (1 x press story for relevant executives per trip - working in partnership with India heads of comms on media strategy)

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of external communications experience 

• Minimum B.S./B.A in Broadcast Journalism / Communications / Public Relations / English

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience focused on servicing the tech sector in the social media space

• Solid understanding of business and media environment particularly in consumer technology

• Well-developed and well-maintained media relationships with Indian media, particularly in technology/innovation/HR

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills

• Fantastic organizational skills and an innate ability to multitask and prioritize

• Strong understanding of public relations planning and implementation processes

• Very strong project management and decision-making skills

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and unstructured, deadline-oriented environment

• Possess a high degree of integrity and a sense of confidentiality

• Demonstrate managerial maturity and good judgment at all times

• The ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships at all levels is critical to this position
