Capital Economics is hiring a

Commercial Real Estate Economist

London, United Kingdom
Full-Time

Capital Economics is one of the world’s leading independent economic research companies. Our goal is to provide our clients with timely and insightful analysis supported by original economic thinking.

We look for economists who will challenge the consensus, who possess strong analytical skills and who can express themselves clearly and concisely in English. Samples of our work can be found on our website.

We are looking for an analyst to work in our Commercial Property team, providing insight and forecasts to more than 250 client firms, including a range of investor types, as well as surveyors and lenders. At the core of the role is the need to apply economic analysis to property occupier and investment markets.

The main responsibilities include:

  • shaping our views on occupier and investment markets, using our latest economic forecasts;
  • producing regular written analysis, from quick responses to detailed research on market themes;
  • identifying the key risks for investors;
  • maintaining and improving our commercial property data sets for internal and external use.

 There is no “standard“ Capital Economics employee. We are committed to employing from diverse backgrounds and fostering an inclusive atmosphere. Our economists tend to be intelligent, questioning and independently minded and enjoy the challenge of creating views and expressing them to clients.

The average tenure of economists at the company is relatively long (c. 5-6 years) and many choose to stay at Capital Economics for a large part of their career. The skills and experience gained are widely prized and leavers from the property team have moved to high-profile roles across the real estate industry.

At Capital Economics, we are committed to equality, inclusion and diversity, which we believe are critical to help us make better decisions for the company, our employees and our clients. This is particularly important in macroeconomic research, which relies on a diversity of views and opinions to be relevant and insightful. With this in mind, we encourage applications from all candidates regardless of ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age, disability or gender identity. If you need reasonable adjustments to be made to the application process to ensure you are not at a disadvantage to other candidates, please include this in your cover letter. This is applicable if you have a disability or if you are neurodiverse/hold neurodiverse traits.

Please submit a CV with a short covering letter explaining why you want to be a professional economist, why you want to work for Capital Economics and why you are suited to the role. Also, please indicate how you heard about the Capital Economics.
