Job Description: Estimator
As a Commercial HVAC Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the bidding process for HVAC projects in commercial settings. You will be responsible for accurately assessing project requirements, evaluating costs, and preparing detailed estimates for prospective clients. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and executive leadership, you will ensure that estimates align with project specifications, timelines, and budgetary constraints. Your expertise in HVAC systems and construction principles will be essential in providing competitive and profitable bids while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
  • Conduct on-site visits to assess existing conditions and gather relevant information for accurate cost estimation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and executive leadership to determine project objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to develop comprehensive estimates for HVAC projects, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Research and source materials, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure project feasibility.
  • Identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities associated with each project and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  • Present estimates and proposals to clients, addressing inquiries, clarifications, and negotiating terms as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, bid documents, and correspondence for future reference and analysis.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, codes, regulations, and best practices related to commercial HVAC systems and construction estimation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an HVAC estimator in commercial construction projects, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, components, and installation methods.
  • Familiarity with construction principles, building codes, and industry standards relevant to HVAC installations.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and interact professionally with clients.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Construction Estimator (CCE), are a plus.
