Job Summary:
Currencycloud, part of Visa, is a technology-driven company specialising in cross-border payments. Our mission is to provide businesses with seamless and secure global payment solutions. As an Associate Infrastructure Engineer, you will join our dynamic infrastructure team to help build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
This role is ideal for candidates who have foundational experience in cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, devops practices and networking, and are eager to further their expertise in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment. You will work remotely alongside senior engineers to design, automate, and support key systems that power our global payment network.
Key Responsibilities:
AWS Infrastructure Management:
Assist in the management, configuration, and maintenance of AWS services including:
EC2, EKS, ECR, S3, KMS, VPC, RDS, SageMaker, Elasticache, Opensearch, and CloudWatch.
Support network configurations within AWS VPC, including security groups, subnets, and transit gateways.
Monitor and respond to AWS CloudWatch alerts to maintain system health and performance.
Infrastructure Automation:
Collaborate in the development and maintenance of infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of reusable secure Terraform modules for AWS resources.
Configuration management using Ansible for creation of golden AMI’s.
Conterisation and Orchestration:
Participate in the management of containerised workloads on Kubernetes (EKS) using kubectl.
Usage of Helm for Kubernetes application management.
Assist with implementing and troubleshooting service mesh solutions with Istio.
Maintain container registries (ECR) and ensure optimised image management.
CI/CD and Deployment Automation:
Support the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline configuration using tools like ArgoCD, Jenkins and Terraform Cloud.
Assist in automating deployments and testing to ensure efficient error-free delivery of new features and updates.
Monitoring and Observability:
Support the development and configuration of monitoring solutions using AWS CloudWatch and other observability tools such as Datadog.
Implement and maintain logging and alerting frameworks to ensure system uptime and performance.
Security and Compliance:
Assist in managing encryption and security keys through AWS KMS.
Support compliance with security best practices, ensuring AWS environments are secure, up-to-date, and compliant with internal policies and standards.
Assist with vulnerability management, remediation, and associated processes.
Learn and implement cloud security practices to the highest standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other infrastructure team members and cross-functional teams, such as developers and data scientists, to support the infrastructure needs of various applications and services.
Document infrastructure processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Learning and Development:
Continuously enhance skills and knowledge of AWS, infrastructure automation tools, and modern DevOps practices.
Participate in regular team discussions to improve workflows and implement best practices.
Attend conferences and take advantage of the extensive learning resources available.
Required Skills & Experience:
Foundational AWS experience: Basic knowledge of core AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, etc.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with Terraform and Ansible for managing cloud resources.
Containerisation: Basic understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
CI/CD Tools: Exposure to Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar tools for deployment automation.
Scripting Skills: Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell.
Monitoring: Basic understanding of monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch.
Networking: Familiarity with networking concepts (e.g., DNS, VPN, load balancing, firewalls).
Version controlled code management practices using Github or similar.
Understanding of devops processes, agile working and cloud best practices.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Experience with service mesh technologies like Istio.
Experience working with observability platforms beyond CloudWatch.
Knowledge of security practices within cloud environments, such as encryption, IAM roles, and key management (KMS).
Exposure to GitOps practices and tools like Port.
Exposure to automated infrastructure deployment pipelines.
Usage of project management tooling such as Jira for work organisation.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
AWS certifications are a plus (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
