Cloud Engineering Manager

We are seeking a Cloud Engineering Manager for a contract-to-hire (or direct hire based on candidate preference)  in Englewood, CO. In this role, you will improve the self-service position with internal customers -- providing them tools to configure and manage the capability and cost of their infrastructure. You will work with the development & pipeline teams to rethink the infrastructure that underpins our SDLC. You will refine the strategy in working across multiple AWS accounts and Cloud providers and implement a vision for driving further improvements to our site availability.  Additional responsibilities include: 

 

 

  • Provide cloud practice adoption, technology expertise, and process optimization blueprints for enterprise initiatives
  • Subject matter expert in end-to-end DevOps SDLC (configuration mgmt, continuous integration, continuous delivery, release engineering, provisioning)
  • Develops and leads a world-class team focused on best-in-class reliability engineering and applications operations methodologies
  • Develops a strong team, able to perform effective Incident Management from incident start through resolution, partnering with Development and Deployment to determine root causes, and driving rigorous Problem Management to follow through on actions
  • Fosters and encourages a culture of clear and precise communication, continuous improvement, and employee engagement
  • Challenges existing methods and drives new paradigms
  • Provides both strategic leadership for the organization, as well as hands-on tactical daily leadership
  • Develops strong working partnerships built on responsiveness and mutual accountability, with leaders inside and outside of the organization
  • Sets monthly/quarterly goals and objectives and ensures resources are efficiently aligned to organizational goals and objectives
  • Work closely with peers, as well as build excellent working relationships with senior leaders across the company.
  • Build a team of subject matter experts who will need to have a strong mix of both technical knowledge of the systems and technologies that support our platforms, as well as a strong focus on customer experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in IT
  • 5 years in a senior IT leadership role in a large enterprise environment
  • Strong experience with Intake, Problem Management, and Service Availability Management
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to articulate complex situations clearly
  • Experience in implementing DevOps strategy
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps is preferred
  • Subject matter expert in end-to-end DevOps SDLC (configuration mgmt, continuous integration, continuous delivery, release engineering, provisioning) 
  • Experience to craft and develop cloud solutions, translating business requirements into scalable, flexible, and secure cloud architectures. (AWS or other)
  • Solid experience of containers and container management platform (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins, TravisCI, Gitlab CI, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (Logz.io, Cloud Watch, Splunk, DynaTrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, etc.)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as TerraForm, CloudFormation, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of IT Operations and ITSM
  • Experience leading teams and coaching cloud infrastructure developers.
  • Knowledge/experience with configuration mgmt (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt)
  • Knowledge/experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Knowledge/experience with CI/CD tools and concepts.
  • Ability to establish rapport, credibility, and influence in a highly cross-functional, matrixed organization
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to drive best practice innovation
  • Highly collaborative with a strong work ethic
  • Embraces challenges, displays strong creative flexibility
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • Proven track record of building dynamic teams, is a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher, learner, and a fantastic leader of people.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Incident Management and Problem Management.
