The Cloud Consultant will work at the intersection of cloud computing, edge technologies, and sustainability, conducting in-depth research on innovative approaches to reducing the energy footprint of edge cloud infrastructures. This role involves a blend of technical research, cloud architecture design, and thought leadership in developing energy-efficient computing strategies.
Your main accountabilities:
- Conduct research focused on developing sustainable, energy-efficient edge cloud infrastructures.
- Investigate and identify emerging technologies and best practices that minimize the energy consumption of edge computing systems, including hardware, software, and network optimizations.
- Conduct feasibility studies, benchmarking, and performance evaluations for energy-efficient edge cloud solutions
- Develop strategies to optimize power usage in edge data centers, devices, and network nodes, leveraging techniques such as load balancing, energy-aware scheduling, and dynamic resource allocation.
- Collaborate with sustainability experts to incorporate green technologies and renewable energy sources into edge cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to evaluate energy-efficient hardware platforms (Processor, GPU, ECU,) and edge-specific virtualization solutions
- Implement the concept as a POC in an test environment
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and edge platforms (AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, etc.).
- Strong understanding of cloud and edge computing architectures, including virtualization, containers, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient computing strategies, hardware optimization, and low-power systems (e.g., ARM-based architectures).
- Experience with power usage optimization techniques such as load balancing, resource allocation, and energy-aware scheduling.
- Knowledge in data analytics, monitoring tools, and AI/ML algorithms
- Previous research experience, preferably in energy efficiency, sustainability, or green IT technologies is a plus.
- Passion for sustainability and a desire to apply knowledge to reduce environmental impact of cloud computing.
- Speak English at least on B2 level and/or German language on B2+ level
