Clinical Assistant Professor, Communication Sciences & Disorders - Cleveland State University

This position is responsible for fulfilling all required responsibilities as outlined by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) accreditation Standards including program development in accordance with ASHA accreditation standards and those as required by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce. Duties include working with faculty colleagues on course development, securing clinical site/partnerships, assist in student recruitment and liaison with appropriate stakeholders. Position will also coordinate and provide clinical supervision, direct student clinicians in all domains of professional clinical practice, teach classes in CSD, appropriately assess student learning and performance and initiate community partnerships. The successful candidate will be required to maintain clinical currency.

  • Earned doctoral degree in speech-language pathology, speech and hearing sciences, or a closely related field (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) from a regionally accredited institution;
  • Clinical experience as a speech-language pathologist;
  • Annual maintenance of the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and Ohio licensure in speech-language pathology;
  • Significant experience (including teaching and supervision) in university settings;
  • Experience serving diverse communities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in academic teaching in a postsecondary setting, especially online;
  • Administrative experience;
  • Experience in supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging initiatives;
  • Scholarly record of publication and/or presentation and/or grant funding;
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards for master's programs in Speech-Language Pathology.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is housed in the COH, along with the departments of Health Sciences & Human Performance, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, the School of Nursing, and the School of Social Work. Together, the COH offers more than 23 undergraduate and graduate academic programs in health professions, nursing programs, social work and related certificate programs all designed to provide clinical and experiential learning, interprofessional practice, and scholarship activities. The COH operates two on-site health clinics that provide hands-on training to our students and health care to our communities.
