Climate Specialist - Product Research & Innovation

We are looking for a Climate Specialist to join our Product Research & Innovation team and help us define, evolve and expand our climate product. Your work will be to shape and guide the climate-related decisions of our clients.

In particular, we are seeking someone who can contribute to the creation of new methodologies and features for our digital product to help our clients in the financial industry. The focus of the position will be on climate-related data and metrics, covering topics such as portfolio alignment with the Paris agreement, transition financing, carbon footprinting, TCFD reporting, and others.

The Climate Specialist should possess exceptional quantitative skills and thrive in an entrepreneurial setting. This includes contributing to the research and innovation of Clarity AI products, identifying scientifically robust solutions that address the needs of our clients, and creating minimum viable products / models that can be integrated in our tech tool.

The ideal candidate should love tackling different types of problems, enjoy collaborating with others to solve cross-functional challenges, and be able to contribute to actionable solutions.Furthermore, we appreciate it if you bring a passion for sustainability and sustainable finance in particular.

The role is based in Madrid/Spain Remote

Key Responsibilities

The Climate Specialist will be responsible for conducting quantitative analysis and developing models to support the launch of new product features or existing product enhancements. The role will include, but not be limited to, the following activities:

  • Coordinate and work closely with other teams (e.g., product management, data engineering, data science, business development) to define, create and validate new models and analytics for our climate offer
  • Monitor and conduct research into the market for sustainable finance data
  • Assess trade-offs between different methodological options and propose the most appropriate solution for our clients
  • Identify, understand and evaluate new climate data sources to enrich existing models
  • Apply statistical analysis to extract relevant insights from large datasets
  • Conduct checks and validation tests on new and existing methodologies
  • Identify and propose continuous improvements and refinements to the product functionalities and methodologies
  • Prepare reports to document insights and findings, and presentations to communicate results to stakeholders and clients.

Requirements

  • Deeply passionate about sustainability
  • 1-2 years of relevant climate experience. Experience in the financial services sector will be a plus. 
  • Outstanding quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of key sustainability challenges and trends for different industries 
  • Foundational knowledge of GHG Protocol, GRI, SASB, TCFD or other Sustainability Frameworks.
  • Experience in identifying, analyzing and interpreting patterns and trends in complex datasets. Experience with Python and SQL is preferred but not essential
  • Self-starter who will thrive in a start-up setting by taking ownership and initiative
  • Flexible ways of working – can adapt when faced with changes in planning and can contribute to multiple types of work to support the team in meeting its objectives
  • Complete professional fluency in English (minimum C1)
  • Intellectual curiosity and sense of humor
