About This Role:

Hippo is looking for a Claims Assistant to join our team.   We're seeking a detail-oriented individual to work in a fast-paced environment, who will support the claims department's daily operational needs through various administrative tasks and projects.  Great opportunity for interested professionals that seek to advance in their role and grow their career here at Hippo though various career pathways.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Work with claims adjusters and our Financial Operations team to properly initiate and process a successful "Stop Payment"
  • Post claim recoveries from our vendors and subrogated claims
  • Pay expense invoices when needed
  • Maintain process of adding all new vendors to the claims system for proper reporting
  • Complete timely claim assignment referrals to our carriers
  • Exporting entire claim files and communications for attorney's or DOI responses
  • Generates invoices for vendor partners
  • Management and upkeeping of adjusters out of office calendar, as well as adding out of office events in our claims system
  • Monitors the general claims mailbox. Responding to claim inquiries via email and outbound calls, distributing/uploading emails and relevant documents to the appropriate claims and identifying high priority emails related to complaints and suits

Must Haves: 

  • 2 years of exceptional administrative skills are required
  • Prior experience in insurance is desired but not required, training is provided
  • Proven track record of strong organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in productivity software (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Zoom)
  • A natural inclination to work within a culture that is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring flexibility to get great work done
  • Flexibility to work additional hours or adjust shift hours to support workload surges during catastrophic events

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid – A minimum of 2 days per week in the office, set schedule. 3+ days preferred and encouraged.
  • Schedule – Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm
  • Candidates must have flexibility to work overtime or flex schedule to support workload surges during catastrophic events.
