Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 

Reporting into our Site Construction Manager, you’ll be a client-side Project Engineer (Civil) working on the construction phase of the BESS project and involved in design reviews, constructability reviews, and monitoring onsite construction of earthworks, trenching, foundations and buildings. 

During the Construction Phase, you will directly coordinate with your discipline and cross-discipline counterparts within Worley, the Engineering Contractor, to ensure effective engineering delivery. You’ll also collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders within Contact to ensure the project is running smoothly and milestones are met.

This role is broad and varied, some of the key tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Lead and oversee the construction of site works for the BESS project, from earthworks, trenching, civil, foundation works through to buildings.
  • Ensure industry-best safety and quality outcomes across the project.
  • Review designs for long-term suitability and constructability.
  • Manage project risks and support mitigation efforts.
  • Coordinate with contractors and ensure smooth on-site operations.
  • Provide regular updates on key milestones, costs, and risk issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

This role will involve a combination of office and field work, with the site located in Glenbrook, south Auckland.

Ko wai koe | About you

  • A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ideally, 5+ years of experience on large complex civil and electrical projects, preferably in the Power/Renewable sector.
  • Experience in EPC and Design Build contracting frameworks as a Client-Side Project Engineer.
  • Strong communication skills - ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • A team player and skilled at building relationships and navigating stakeholder dynamics.
  • A proactive problem-solver who can navigate complex issues.
  • Comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
