ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.


This position is contingent upon the successful acquisition of additional funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on the availability of resources.
 

World Relief Quad Cities seeks an experienced, talented educator to serve as a citizenship class instructor in our Education department. This position will provide citizenship instruction to lawful permanent residents in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach in-person and virtual citizenship classes to groups of lawful permanent residents 
  • Participate in the shaping of programming and development of curriculum according to USCIS guidance 
  • Provide outreach in the community to raise awareness of citizenship classes and recruit students 
  • Coordinate site-based and classroom-based civic integration activities 
  • Provide civic participation activities for students and encourage attendance 
  • Mentor, guide, and assist with coordinating classroom interns and volunteers 
  • Conduct pre-and post-assessments for students 
  • Gather student feedback to evaluate program effectiveness 
  • Document student attendance and report inconsistencies to Education Manager 
  • Provide transportation to clients to and from class in company vehicle
  • Attend education department meetings 
  • Maintain proper care of host teaching site 
  • Track data to complete quarterly performance and narrative reports to the USCIS Program Office 
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm World Relief’s Core Beliefs and Statement of Faith, and acknowledge World Relief’s Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Bachelor’s degree in education (K-12 Social Studies, English Language Arts, History,  Linguistics, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages [TESOL], or Adult Education) or at least one year of experience as the lead teacher in a class for adult immigrants
  • Valid U.S. driver's license (requires a successful MVR for hire);
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
  • skill and sensitivity working with people from various cultures, backgrounds and beliefs 
  • Experience in multicultural setting 
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment 
  • Experience working with refugees and employment 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team 
  • Knowledge, or willingness to learn, US citizenship test curriculum;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education (K-12 Social Studies, English Language Arts, History,  Linguistics, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages [TESOL], or Adult Education) or at least one year of experience as the lead teacher in a class for adult immigrants; international or multicultural experience; experience working with immigrants, refugees, or other vulnerable populations
