ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks a Childcare Assistant to work with the Family Literacy Manager to provide childcare and educational experiences for refugee and immigrant children Mondays-Thursdays from 4:30-7:30 pm while their parents participate in an onsite ESL program at World Relief Western NY.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Supervise babies and children of various cultural backgrounds and ages, especially 0–3-year-olds
- Actively engage children in recreational and learning activities, group games and creative play
- Help children learn and discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, books, puzzles, games, etc.
- Coordinate small group of volunteers to assist in providing childcare for 0–3-year-olds
- Facilitate the sign-in and sign-out of children by parents
- Maintain a safe, orderly environment for children, including one that includes no bullying or violent play
- Engage parents for instances of child misbehavior, soiled diapers, extreme discontent, or other issues as needed
- Abide by mandatory reporting laws and document any behavioral or accidental incidents
- Ensure childcare space is clean and free of hazards
- Closely coordinate with the Family Literacy Manager •Other duties as assigned by supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Ability to be on-site from 4:30-7:30pm Monday-Thursday during the Rochester City School District school year, including summer school
- Previous experience working with children required
- Ability to be flexible to respond to changing needs of the program
- Dependable, professional, and capable of working independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- •Previous experience working in cross-cultural settings preferred
