Chief of Staff

Overall Role Summary:

The Chief of Staff (CoS) will report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and will provide close support on multiple initiatives and projects across the business. This support will include, but not be limited to research, project management, presentation creation, liaison with other parts of the business, drafting and managing communications as well as diary and travel co-ordination and administration.

Key Accountabilities:

Tasks are likely to include:

  • Supporting and/or participating in programme management on prioritised projects as directed by the CSO, including the development and tracking of the business objectives and priorities which will ensure the success of these projects
  • Acting as researcher and analyst to gather information and data on markets, projects,policies and business performance and creating clear, insightful presentations of findings
  • Drafting clear, impactful communications and messaging for both internal and external audiences
  • Attending key meetings with the CSO, ensuring actions are agreed, taken and communicated. Following up and offering support against any actions undertaken by others
  • Ensuring the cadence and relevance of team meetings is kept up and that team objectives,budgets and communications are in place and on track
  • Partnering with central business functions to organize and support on budgetary, people &other central requirements of the Strategy group
  • Engaging with the business generally, being able to relate to people at all levels of the organisation and provide the CSO with a view on the ‘mood' and ‘opinion' of different parts of the business on the various initiatives being undertaken
  • Support the CSO’s internal and external communications agenda through the preparation of materials that will require strong command of social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite and other communication tools.
  • Ensure close collaboration and co-ordination with other Informa divisions and functions as required
  • Assist with strategic and business planning process and implementation of tasks as required for the efficient development and execution of the process.
  • Provide administrative support to the CSO including diary management, travel and other tasks as maybe required

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional oral, written and presentation communications skills
  • High EQ with the ability to work collaboratively and bring people together towards common goal using strong personal influencing skills
  • Working knowledge of Academic Publishing 
  • Proven track record of effectively interacting and engaging with senior business stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of Informa, with an in-depth knowledge of the five divisions · Ability to be analytical and take accountability for high level, strategic projects · A proven ability to get things done. · Intellectual curiosity, with developed research skills to track down and understand information and data · Highly analytical, with strong attention to detail · Strong digital skills with a knowledge of modern business communication platforms such as Yammer and Office 365

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly numerate, with an ability to interpret and understand budgets, project plans & financial targets
  • Highly organised and able to balance competing demands
  • Exceptional project management skills; experience of proactively following up on project statuses and taking pride in ensuring that project milestones are achieved
  • Flexible and adaptable when dealing with different time zones
  • Ability to be proactive and independent when solving problems and working autonomously.
  • A fast and effective learner who has the desire to ‘pay it forward'; sharing their learning with others and to use their learning in this role for business benefit going forward
