What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Chief of Staff. This role reports into the Chief Executive Officer and works regularly with the entire c-suite and global management team. Previous Chiefs of Staff have gone into management and operational roles within Argus. The ideal candidate will look to use this position as a springboard for a broader role within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Activities include but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning: The Chief of Staff works with management team to develop the strategic plan for the business and then tracks the execution and achievement of milestones. This includes mergers, acquisitions, partnerships as well as key product road maps.

Operational Improvement: Argus is continuously improving its operational capabilities and efficiency. The Chief of Staff works with management to identify and implement key initiatives that will drive further improvements across the organization.

Establishing and maintaining an operating rhythm for the business. This includes weekly and quarterly processes to ensure the proper running of the business. Additionally, assist with meetings related to the strategic development of the company. Preparation for board meetings, mid-year and end of year strategy/planning and oversight of key operational processes are all part of the Chief of Staff’s remit. This also includes ad-hoc meetings as necessary.

Preparing and delivery communications such as board papers, investment requests, strategic plans and internal employee communications.
This role requires several specific capabilities:
- Decision Making and Financial Modelling: The Chief of Staff is often the first person to develop a model for acquisitions, partnerships, investments and other strategic decisions. The ability to create financial models quickly and present options, opportunities and risks in a succinct and understandable manner.

Strategic Insight: The role requires a level of strategic thinking and understanding of markets. Traditional strategy frameworks and the ability to evaluate or create strategic plans is a large part of the Chief of Staff role. The role requires the ability to draw conclusions, socialize findings and create a path for decision making.
- Diplomacy: A key role for the Chief of Staff is resolving conflicts that arise in the organisation. This requires a high degree of interpersonal skills, sensitivity and maturity in negotiating resolutions to conflicts. The ability to build a network of relationships across the organization is essential to success.
- Communication: From company town halls to private letters to individuals, the Chief of Staff is responsible for creating communications from executive management. Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to adapt the “tone of voice” of different executives is extremely important to the role.
Skills and Experience
- 5-10 years’ experience in management consulting, corporate strategy or private equity roles with progressive levels of seniority.

Prior related experience in energy markets, publishing, or information services is preferred.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated high level of professionalism and initiative.

Strong managerial, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be flexible and multi-task against multiple projects.

Strong attention to detail.
- Must maintain a high level of integrity and discretion on sensitive topics

Appreciates multi-culturalism and different perspectives

Strong desire and passion to learn.

Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
This individual will have significant exposure to senior management across the business. Once they have experience in this role, the Chief of Staff will have built a strong foundation for a broader operations or strategy role. When combined with the relationships the individual will have developed, there are multiple career paths within Argus.
