Role Description
You will have the opportunity to join a hard-working and quickly growing team, and have an immediate impact within a young company. This role in the New Applications division of Via’s R&D team will support the development of membranes and membrane processes. You will have the opportunity to take part in the validation of new chemical synthesis and formulation of membrane materials, characterization method development and membrane testing. Day-to-day responsibilities will include cross-functional work with Via Separations’ Engineering team and Advanced Development and Design & Product sub-teams.
Responsibilities include
- Characterization of chemical samples using titration, refractometry, spectroscopy, viscometry, tensiometry and thermogravimetric analysis.
- Independent operation of membrane test equipment for the evaluation of energy-efficient chemical separations.
- Synthesis of functionalized nanoparticles for improved performance in chemical separations.
- Documentation of experimental methods and results in lab notebook.
- Summarization and discussion of experimental results in reports and internal team updated meetings.
- Ability to work on a full-time basis from January - June 2025.
The ideal candidate will have most if not all of the following
- Coursework in chemistry, physics or chemical engineering
- Demonstrated hands-on project experience (coursework, extracurricular, and/or leisure).
- Passion for learning and willingness to ask questions.
- Willingness to accept tasks with limited direction and oversight.
- Strong ability to manage time and quickly shifting priorities
- A desire to be independent and lead projects
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and with long-term projects
- A clear interest in sustainability
- US work authorization is required for this role
