We are seeking a Chaplain to join our community committed to the spiritual needs of senior adults and provide grief and crisis counseling. As a Chaplain, you will play an important role in the development, implement, and/or integrate Chaplaincy programs relating to senior adults. What you'll do:
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with church pastors, associations, organizational leaders and agencies dealing with senior adult services.
- Provide spiritual/emotional assessment and counseling services to senior adults and their families and friends in the community.
- Provide appropriate and accurate information and service referrals to Buckner.
- Facilitate cooperation and communication concerning denominational issues throughout the community.
- Plan and lead worship services and retreats related to senior adult issues and program at the facility, and as appropriate, the community. Participate in conferences, workshops and retreats on a local level, as requested.
- Recruit and train volunteer staff in all senior adult services programs as required.
- Work with appropriate churches to develop new Church Volunteer Programs to serve senior adult members of their congregations.
- Monitor satisfaction of client/agency relationships; maintain communication with Executive Director regarding status of relationships
What you’ll bring:
- Requires basic understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge normally acquired through attainment of a Bachelor’s degree in theology or a related field. Masters Degree from Seminary and CPE preferred. Experience in Chaplaincy required; experience in delivery of services to senior client populations preferred.
- Ascribes to Christian values and principles required. Membership in Baptist church with Baptist General Convention of Texas affiliation is required.
- Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
- Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects, including people.
- Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time; ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, stand and walk over 50% of shift.
