ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.


This position is contingent upon the successful acquisition of additional funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on the availability of resources.
 

The Career Pathways Specialist (CPS) - Temporary will work side-by-side with immigrants to discover their career pathways, equip them with the skills they need to succeed, and promote entry into employment within their chosen field. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Implementation of Project Requirements, World Relief Policies and Procedures, and support clients to perform well:
  • Communicate World Relief Career Pathway Program Requirements to current and potential Career Pathway Clients.
  • Provide resources and tools to clients that help them complete their career pathway program in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the project enrollment and outcome expectations are met. 
  • Program Outreach and Program Orientation:
  • Coordinate outreach initiatives aimed at providing immigrant communities in the Greater Sacramento area with information regarding employment and career advancement opportunities, including World Relief’s Career Advancement Course and employment programs;
  • Ensure the potential clients are provided with proper career pathway orientation. Career Development and Direct Assistance:
  • Engage with clients in career exploration and collaborating on the development of career pathways plans identifying specific action steps toward end goals;
  • Assess and enroll immigrants interested in participating in World Relief’s Career Advancement Course in collaboration with educational institutions based on program requirements, processes, and guidelines. 
  • Develop a Career Development Plan (CDP) in line with clients' career goals.
  • Ensure the clients understand the program well that enrolled.
  • Provide feedback for the continual development of the career advancement programs at World Relief Sacramento, mainly for World Relief’s Career Advancement Course;
  • Pay and process Career Pathway Program payments according to the project requirements.
  • Assist the client with a career pathway through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act(WIOA) assistance program.
  • Help refugees evaluate education documents through World Education Services (WES).
  • Enroll eligible clients in the Merit America Career Pathway Programs.
  • Connect clients with Federal programs supporting career development through Apprenticeship USA.
  • Partnership:
  • Identify training Providers and, in collaboration with the Department Manager, initiate a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • Research employment sectors for job opportunities as well as vocational training opportunities.
  • Ensure training plans and training delivery meet project standards.
  • Job Placement:
  • Provide Job Readiness Training to all enrolled career pathway program clients.
  • Develop contacts and relationships with new employers to increase interest in hiring WRC clients, as well as maintain and strengthen existing employer relationships.
  • Provide direct assistance with resumes, applications, interviews, job offer paperwork, and ongoing mediation with employers.
  • Coordinate with churches and volunteers serving WRC clients seeking employment.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Family Services and Education Departments to creatively address barriers to self-sufficiency
  • Record Management:
  • Enter client’s data into Microsoft Dynamics and the internal department tracker in a timely manner. 
  • Satisfying documentation and reporting requirements in accordance with grant standards.
  • Ensure the Internal Department clients tracker and Microsoft Dynamics are up to date. 
  • Maintain accurate case files and client notes for program participants.
  • Communication, Meetings and Appointments:
  • Communicate the upcoming client's career pathway program-related appointments to the clients, including consular appointments, the first day of the class, and fee payments. Attend department, clients, and office-wide meetings
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with at least one-year experience in an office environment.
  • Must have knowledge of United States education system.
  • Must Have previous teaching experience.
  • Able to work in person.
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
