The Cardiology Technician performs various non-invasive cardiac procedures, including stress testing, Holter monitor hook-up, ECG's for all age groups. These procedures are performed following established department and Medical Center policy and procedures.

- Performs all clinical procedures for adult and pediatric patients per Departmental policy.
- Recognizes basic cardiac rhythms including EKG changes of acute MI, V TACH, V Fib or heart block and provides intervention as indicated.
- Initiates Code Blue and emergency measures when indicated according to BCLS and hospital policy.
- Prepares testing area for procedure, including necessary forms, charts, equipment and supplies.
- Prepares patient for electrocardiogram and stress testing utilizing proper lead placement and skin preparation.
- Adheres to infection control guidelines: uses good handwashing technique, adheres to isolation policy, cleaning equipment between patients.
- Assists physician/R.N. during exercise testing.
- Performs Holter monitor hookups and removal.
- Checks results on-line and sends to ordering M.D.
- Performs ECGs on pediatric and neonatal patients, and ECGs/SAECGs on adult patients.
- Prepares test results for interpretation and dictation; completes work process before end of shift.
- Updates and files chart.
- Responds to beeper or iPhone when assigned EKG's.
- Transports patients as necessary.
- Orders supplies and maintains appropriate stock levels.
- Provides training for new personnel or updated training to established personnel.
