Role Overview

Greater Philly Hillel Network is looking for a passionate and creative professional to serve as its inaugural Campus Impact Advisor. This role will focus on communicating our antisemitism response and prevention on campus and work alongside a cohort of other Campus Impact professionals doing this important work on campuses across North America. Working closely with Hillel International, campus Hillel staff and students, community stakeholders, and university partners, each Campus Impact Advisor will build and sustain long-term relationships and political and media strategies to shift the climate on campus. The ideal candidate will deeply understand today’s campus climate and have a passion for engaging student and campus communities in shaping and advancing effective advocacy. They will leverage their relationship-building expertise to work across campus and the local Jewish community to ensure Hillels and the students they serve feel supported, connected to resources, and able to promote positive Jewish life even amidst the most complex of antisemitic incidents on campus today.

The Campus Impact Advisor will report directly to Greater Philly Hillel Network’s Executive Director, and will receive training, support, and guidance through the Campus Impact Advisor program from the Associate Vice President Campus Antisemitism Solutions at Hillel International.  As part of a cohort of other Campus Impact Advisors, this role will join a cadre of professionals working together in the fight against antisemitism on college campuses across North America.

What You’ll Do

  • Work as a resource for Jewish students and faculty in response to campus climate issues both managing incident reporting/tracking/outcomes, and developing longer-term strategies. This may include taking a role in leading advocacy work or helping facilitate legal and/or PR resources. 
  • Work with Jewish and non-Jewish student leaders on campus to address the campus climate and ensure inclusion of all students. This also entails training and supporting civically minded students on getting involved in student leadership with student government or key campus organizations.
  • Build meaningful relationships with key university staff and faculty that yield productive partnerships.
  • Connect with students who are interested in advocacy and empower them as leaders; plan advocacy events in support of Jewish students on campus.
  • Regularly monitor, track, and report on antisemitism both on social media and throughout campus.
  • Convene faculty, staff, and students around issues of antisemitism and anti-Zionism who can make recommendations to administration and build support networks.
  • Support appropriate community involvement on campus that is relevant and beneficial to the lived experience of Jewish students and faculty through building meaningful relationships with other community groups and individuals with shared values.
  • Write op-eds, letters, newsletters, action alerts, press releases, social media, and statements related to campus culture initiatives on behalf of Greater Philly Hillel Network.
  • Speak with community groups, individuals, and policymakers about strategies for preventing antisemitism on campus.
  • Collaborate and manage Jewish and non-Jewish community organizations on community-wide initiatives.
  • Partner internally with antisemitism focused teams within Hillel International such as Campus Climate Initiative, Israel Action and Addressing Antisemitism and Communications teams.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years experience in college campus work, Jewish community, or community relations.
  • Knowledge of Jewish history and culture, the characteristics of antisemitism, and the broad range of understandings of Zionism and anti-Zionism.
  • Passion for fighting antisemitism, addressing anti-Zionism, and uplifting American values of democracy.
  • Experience with Student governments and policy.
  • Ability to prioritize diplomacy and work in collaboration toward solutions.
  • Social media prowess.
  • Ability to think critically, embrace data, and develop solutions to problems.
  • An organized and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven record of building productive working relationships.
