Business Planning & Operations Intern (For current students only, starting June 2025)

The SSA Business Planning and Operations team directly supports the SSA Group Country Manager (GCM) and sets out to facilitate achievement of financial and business goals for the region.  Closely engaging with all internal stakeholders (GCM, Country Managers, CEMEA Hub and various functional verticals), the team provides guidance, oversight and project management across strategic and BAU priorities of the region.

Principle Responsibilities of the Business Planning and Operations (BPO) Intern at Visa:

The primary focus of this position is to support the Business Planning and Operations (BPO) team and partner with business development and functional units in managing Visa business to achieve the organization’s goals.

Some things you might work on during your BPO rotation include:

  • Prepare required reports and dashboards to provide business development teams, functional units and management with a clear picture of current business performance and progress towards targets. 
  • Review monthly financial data produced by Finance department to ensure that information is accurate and work closely with Finance team to investigate any abnormalities. 
  • Prepare monthly market profitability reports with commentary to highlight trends and key drivers contributing to the financial results. 
  • Prepare and distribute quarterly market sales performance data. 
  • Support ad-hoc analysis (e.g. deep dives into markets, clients, products, revenue streams) to drive new sales efforts, identify gaps to targets and provide business insights that can support and enhance decision-making. 
  • Review investments with relevant departments and ensure re-allocation of funds where necessary. 
  • Keep track of macroeconomic trends for SSA. Generate regular market reports, highlight major changes and reasons behind. 
  • Participate in the creation of common financial reporting tools for the region. 
  • Support BPO team in creation of management dashboards and providing insights based on internal/external data. 
  • Students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or IT with a graduation date in  2026 (Finish coursework by Dec 2025)
  • Be available to pursue a 3-month winter internship (3 June 2025 to 28 August 2025)
  • Must be available to join a full-time role by January 2026

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, story-telling and presentation skills
  • Strong PowerPoint and excel skills are desired
  • Superior analytical and financial analysis skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with a diverse peer group required
  • Able to articulate viewpoint effectively to key stakeholders in order to get buy in and agreement
  • Self-confident and hands-on, with the ability to operate in a fast paced and constantly changing work environment
