Job Summary
Orchard Therapeutics, a Kyowa Kirin Company, is a global biotechnology gene therapy company dedicated to transforming the lives of people affected by rare diseases through the development of innovative, potentially curative gene therapies. This position reports into the Senior Director, Business Operations for the Technical Operations function and the successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting, facilitating and coordinating processes, activities and initiatives that the Tech Ops Business Ops function drives including process improvement, budget coordination, maintenance of risk and opportunity processes, procurement & contract support and employee engagement initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will need strong organizational and multitasking skills, proficient IT skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in pursuing a career in operational excellence and process improvement within the Biotech industry and will provide an opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and technical teams to support the achievement of the department’s goals.
Key Elements and Responsibilities
· Coordinate OpEx projects inc. facilitating workshops, generation & approval of project charters, driving continuous improvement and ensuring best practices.
· Co-ordinate procurement activities for the Tech Ops function and support contract review and approval processes.
· Oversee coordination & review of departmental budget, risk management, operational processes, and routine monitoring of external costs.
· Assist with strategic and long-range planning (LRP) activities for the tech ops function.
· Maintain business evaluation databases.
· Contribute ideas and supportthe organisation ofengagement initiatives e.g. co-ordinating monthly Lunch & Learn.
· Assist with the design and preparation of presentations to support departmental communication processes.
· Provide precise reporting and governance support for the technical functions.
Requirements
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
· Demonstrated experience as an operations coordinator, or similar role preferably within the biotechnology sector.
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop effective working relationships.
· Process orientated and able to maintain a high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail.
· Reliable, with excellent time-management and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, anticipate and resolve challenges and deliver results to demanding deadlines
· A strong team player with a flexible and customer-focused approach
· Strong IT skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint
· Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight.
· Familiarity with Operational Excellence / Lean program coordination.
· Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education
BSc or relevant industry experience in biotechnology, biological sciences, gene therapy, analytical development, or an operational excellence or finance-related discipline. Some experience in a coordinator role in a tech ops, procurement, project or operations function ideally in the pharma industry.
