About the Role (your why)  

The Support Developer is responsible for:

  • developing, deploying and maintaining data warehousing artefacts, ETL artefacts, and providing operational support on these artefacts in a BAU environment,
  • supporting BAU BI Solutions by monitoring and tuning queries and data loads, addressing issues regarding data Integrity, monitoring performance and communicating functional and technical issues,
  • debugging, monitoring, optimising and troubleshooting database solutions,
  • contributing to the design and development of data models, developing and performing ETL processes to meet business requirements,
  • researching and delivering best practices methodologies.

What you’ll do   

 

  • Maintaining and supporting the enterprise data/reporting platform so that it can provide reliable, timely, performant and accurate information to business users.
  • Providing assistance and support to all Datacom users with respect to the data/reporting platform, including internal users who are using and manipulating data.
  • Adhering to data warehouse design and quality best practices in accordance with established principles and design philosophy within Group Data.
  • Design and development of efficient queries, stored procedure and functions for reporting
  • Define and clarify requirements, propose and develop appropriate solutions, and provide feedback to the reporting team and internal customers.
  • Monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators, forecasting and trends.
  • Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy
  • Establish and maintain automation processes with a large range of internal and external data sources
  • Create and maintain required documentation
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for Microsoft SQL Server related tools
  • Ensure that issues encountered in production environments are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Perform performance tuning / query optimisation
  • Conduct regular maintenance and improvements to queries and databases
  • Adapt quickly and effectively to changes in departmental or strategic priorities by responding to requests for additional ad hoc requests
  • Perform data reconciliation/verification of reporting requirements

What you’ll bring  

 

  • Strong analytical skills and experience of writing complex SQL queries
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL Server RDBMS including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Working knowledge of any other business intelligence/data visualisation tools e.g. Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, SAS Visual analytics
  • Business Requirements Analysis and Documentation
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and numerical skills (complex calculations, data analysis and reconciliation, numerical and verbal logical reasoning)
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with key contacts
  • Change Management
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time management & ability to work under pressure
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a BI, Analytics, Reporting, Database management role
  • Strong Database systems experience
  • Strong ETL experience
  • Awareness of Business Intelligence and analytical concepts, data visualisation techniques
