Business Development Manager – Taipei

Full-Time
This is a fixed term role until the end of November 2025.

This role is based in the Xinyi District, Taipei NZTE office.
 
Use your business development know-how and know-who to help New Zealand businesses grow bigger, better, faster in Taiwan.

 Taiwan is New Zealand’s 8th largest export market.  A fantastic fast paced consumer market focused on high quality and high value in all things that it does, including food, fun, energy and technology - it is deemed the Silicon Valley of Asia.  We are wanting to continue to grow, nurture and develop mutually beneficial relationships for both NZ & Taiwanese partners leveraging our ANZTEC Trade Agreement, 10 years strong, tariff free and rich with deep indigenous connections across the Pacific.

Who we are: 
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency. We work with some of New Zealand’s most forward-thinking companies, helping them to grow globally.
 
What you will be doing: 
Our Taipei based Taiwan team are looking for a well-connected and energetic Business Development Manager. You will need strong business networks in Taiwan, preferably in the tech, renewable energies and specialised manufacturing industries and you will help advise New Zealand businesses on how to enter, navigate and thrive in the local market.

You will proactively support & help New Zealand companies to develop and execute their business growth plans, including to identify and provide strategic introductions, and navigate the Taiwanese market with appropriate analysis and research.

You will be part of a global organisation working with colleagues in your region, New Zealand and our other international offices to achieve the New Zealand government's economic development goals.
 
What you will need to be successful: 
·       Have strong Taiwanese connections with proven experience in business development/sales roles
·       Knowledge of Aotearoa New Zealand and Taiwan’s business landscape, relationships and indigenous connections will be helpful
·       Knowledge of the indigenous connection between Aotearoa New Zealand and Taiwan
·       Commercial smarts and know-how to manage a portfolio of companies, you’ll play a key role in evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities and supporting them with market entry and navigating growth strategies in the Taiwan market. 
·       Experience in a range of sectors and exposure to industries such as tech, renewable energies and specialised manufacturing would be advantageous.
·       Superb communication, business consulting and relationship management skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.

Proven commercial acumen is critical, as is the ability to work alongside CEOs and a willingness to 'roll your sleeves up'. Well-connected, you’ll have a strong sense for doing business in Taiwan.

Fluency in Mandarin & English is required. You will already need to be eligible to work in Taiwan.
