Our client, a foremost organisation in Nigeria's oil, gas, and energy sectors, is seeking a multi-talented and self-motivated Business Development Manager to manage the organisation's business unit.
This position has the following core responsibilities:
- Manage and drive portfolio profitability and growth required to achieve industry success
- Identify and create coordinated business development opportunities
- Support the organisation in driving business development vision, strategy, plans, and programs required to achieve objectives.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and market trends within the energy industry.
- Identify, establish, and maintain strategic partnerships and alliances with key industry players.
- Drive sales initiatives to increase revenue, including negotiating contracts and closing deals.
- Prepare and present business proposals, bids, and tenders to potential clients and partners.
- Monitor and analyse competitor activities, identifying opportunities for differentiation and market advantage.
- Enhance the company's brand presence and reputation through targeted marketing and promotional activities.
- Prepare regular reports on business development activities, achievements, and market insights for senior management.
- Work closely with other departments, including marketing, production, and finance, to ensure alignment of business development strategies with overall company goals.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and promote business opportunities.
- Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new/existing clients and counterparties, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Liaise between the company and key regulatory agencies in the industry such as NUPRC, NNPC (NUIMS, NEPL & Nipex), and NCDMB, NERC, MBET and other relevant government agencies within the energy space.
- Lead the formulation, execution, and monitoring of the company’s business development, market penetration strategies and plans for enhancing business growth.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and market trends within the energy industry.
- Identify, establish, and maintain strategic partnerships and alliances with key industry players.
- Demonstrate consistent business development success and target—driven achievements.
- Attain business development targets, goals and performance levels. Comply with business rules and conditions.
- Keep abreast of market conditions and trends.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by management.

- Drive compliance with Occupational Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies, processes, procedures and applicable laws/legal requirements across the business.
- Take responsibility for their health & safety and those of stakeholders across the business.
Requirements
Academic Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in social science degrees or relevant degrees.
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Membership of relevant professional association is required.
Experience
- 10 years’ of business development experience in a fast-paced or high-volume org in the energy industry
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is mandatory.
- Ability to communicate at all levels,
- Strong understanding of the energy market, including key trends, players, and technologies.
- Deep understanding of the peculiar dynamics of the regulatory agencies and strong personal contacts within them.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and close deals effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
- Experience in managing business development projects from conception to completion.
