Business Development Manager - HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society)

The Business Development Manager role will involve a combination of internal and external sales activity, attending competitor events, define and support the development of Conference products and themes to attract and retain customers and meeting customers face-to-face. The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with potential clients, identifying sales leads and opportunities, and driving revenue growth to the Informa HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition.  This role will be expected to sell to a variety of new customers, from large key account acquisitions to independent small and medium enterprise customers. Selling will be done over the phone and face-to-face when relevant. Performance will be evaluated based on achieving revenue and new business targets. This role is critical to the business, as the key to our success is growing customer relationships and cultivating new business.

The Business Development Manager maintains strong industry credibility through visible attendance at trade shows and other industry events, staying up to date on new developments and technologies in healthcare information and technology and communicating this information to both key existing accounts and potential new accounts.

Role Accountability and Duties:              

  • Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, solutions, and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets to increase the customer base and revenue.
  • Identify and map potential customer pain points/needs/challenges and accurately positioning products, services, and solutions as a solution to them.
  • Supports all accounts through the contract process along with addressing concerns and issues and prepares customers for events and manages customer expectations.
  • Achieving revenue targets, proactively responding to inbound enquiries, and self-generated leads based on deep market and product understanding.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to senior management through weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
  • Keep customer information/records up to date such as interactions, transactions, pipelines, new business account plans and records on the Informa CRM system.
  • Ensures smooth hand off of new clients to existing Informa HIMSS  Sales team members with the option of retaining select clients with VP of Sales approval.

  • The role offers a base salary ranging from 90k to 100k, supplemented by a competitive commission structure.
