Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager will leverage their knowledge and experience in the third-party logistics field to oversee the growth and development of their team. This role will manage the account production of each team member, review key performance metrics, and coach and develop new and existing employees.

The Business Development Manager is someone with a proven track record of sales achievements, tenacity, and drive in managing every aspect of the sales process, and is ready to jump into an exciting opportunity to help grow the Chattanooga branch.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide management and mentorship to direct team of Business Development Representatives
  • Support BD reps to service, operate, and grow current book of business, while growing customer base through cold calling
  • Leverage reporting to determine best plan for growth with current book of business, as well as identify additional support resources as necessary
  • Facilitate bids, pricing, and customer strategy for all new opportunities with input from the BD reps
  • Coach and mentor employees to ensure sales, revenue growth, and individual KPIs are met while assisting with closing accounts and client relations
  • Attend branch and company level meetings to discuss best practices and areas for improvement, both locally and across other offices
  • Act as a liaison between leadership, departments, and team members regarding performance, escalation, and strategic business direction
  • Work alongside senior management and recruiting department in candidate selection process for the respective team
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities such as discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy

Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years experience within third-party transportation
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading teams
  • Extensive knowledge of third-party logistics, customer service, and sales
  • Proven track record and mindset of success in a sales role
