Business Development Associate

The Business Development Representative – Public Equity is a key client-facing role on GLG's Financial Services New Business team that plays a vital part in identifying, targeting and contacting new client prospects in EMEA. The Business Development Representative will work alongside senior sales managers to problem solve for prospective customers, leveraging a deep understanding of their investment strategy and our corresponding range of solutions. We are business builders in the truest sense – analysing territories, architecting proposals, designing account strategies, and partnering with our Client Solutions team to accelerate adoption during trials and formative initial chapters. At GLG you will have both the opportunity to progress quickly and to also work in a collaborative environment. 

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

This is a heavily outreach-oriented role and will be primarily focused on securing pitch meetings/calls for the senior new business development team on a regular basis

  • Identifying target prospects in priority markets and mapping underlying firms in detail to help facilitate outreach with relevant content
  • Developing the new sales pipeline and managing salesforce processes
  • Working alongside senior sales managers to join pitch calls/meetings with potential clients to build experience in pitching the GLG value proposition
  • Building relationships with prospective clients at Analysts, VP, Principal, Partner level
  • Learning to demo the GLG service offerings and to articulate our differentiators
  • Leveraging GLG's systems and tools to identify, diagnose and present consultive solutions to potential GLG customers
  • Project manage active trials with prospective clients- ensuring that all users covered by the trial are onboarded, briefed of the service and are engaged to maximise trial conversion 
  • Further develop GLG's service offering and explore opportunities for new product and channel development
  • Engage regularly and work with colleagues in; sales, marketing, legal, client solutions, finance, technology, to solve complex business issues and successfully bring these capabilities to market
  • Direct client related support requests to relevant Account Manager / New Business professional
  • Organise key internal and external client meetings
  • Prepare and send key reports to clients and internal stakeholders

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • An intense hunger to win and willingness to learn quickly with a desire to develop sales acumen through mentorship and guidance from a highly experienced team of hunters.
  • 1-3 years of work experience within a sales (inside sales, new business development) role in relevant industries such as financial services or working with financial services firms as clients (preferred)
  • Proven track record of strong performance in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Executive presence, the ability to interact with senior executives and professionals
  • The highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong conviction in GLG's differentiation
  • The creativity and confidence to break through an impasse or debunk a misconception 
  • Demonstrated ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
  • Bachelors degree or above or equivalent work experience
  • Full business proficiency in English
