POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are excited to add a Business Analyst to join the BCV Platform Services team. Reporting to the COO, this person will collaborate with senior Platform, Finance, and Operating professionals to manage key tasks related to portfolio and financial data.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the quarterly collection of portfolio company financial and performance data, including tracking submissions, working with portcos on their submissions, and checking for anomalies in, and accuracy of, the data.
- Work with the finance, portfolio, platform and deal teams to ensure the proper internal data related to the portcos is included. Oversee the presentation and reporting of the data.
- Oversee the collection and storage of portfolio company related data (IC deck, board deck, banker pitch decks, etc.)
- Perform analysis of portfolio performance, including:
- Developing standard reports and presentations
- Comparing to industry benchmarks
- Generating insights
- Responding to ad hoc data analysis requests
- Develop playbooks to help portfolio companies manage their businesses as they grow, including:
- Which services and software should portcos acquire and when
- Recommended vendor lists
- Venture debt and other service provider pricing and terms, etc.
- Work with Investor Relations to prepare presentation materials and information posted to investor website.
- Work with the COO / CFO / Platform Team on projects to enhance the productivity of the team, department and firm.
- Work with product team to streamline data flows.
- Other ad hoc responsibilities
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

0-2 years in Finance or related experience; demonstrated professional and/or academic achievements (likely a 2022-2024 undergraduate degree)
- Self-starter with strong project management and follow-through skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects with the highest attention to detail.
- Creative problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and sound judgment.
- Strong team player with an entrepreneurial predisposition and strong interpersonal skills.
- A keen interest in venture capital, the tech industry, and startups.
- Self-driven and a passion for taking ownership of work and delivering outcomes.
- Results oriented with a strong customer focus.
- Strong communication skills.
- Outstanding Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Most importantly, a curious mindset and a desire to learn!
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Entrepreneurship from a four-year college/university with a strong academic background (minimum 3.5 GPA)
LOCATION:
- This role is based in Boston at the Bain Capital office (~3x week in office)
COMPENSATION:
Boston base salary range: $80,000-$90,000
Additional compensation: This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance. Bain Capital also offers profit sharing and a competitive benefits package.
Total compensation will be determined by several components including but not limited to level, experience, qualifications and geographic location.
