60 Decibels is hiring a

Business Analyst (Data) - Bengaluru or London

Bengaluru, India

60 Decibels is a tech-powered impact measurement company that makes it easy to listen to the people who matter most. We've been in business as an independent entity since early 2019, when we spun out of the global Impact Investor Acumen.

We believe that the best way to understand social impact is by talking to the people experiencing that impact. It sounds obvious when you say it, but that is not the typical practice for many impact investors, corporations and foundations working to create social change.

We collect social impact data directly from beneficiaries (customers / employees / suppliers) using our network of 1000+ trained research assistants in 75+ countries. We do it quickly and without the fuss typically associated with measuring social impact. Our research assistants speak directly to customers to understand their lived experience; and our team turns all this data into benchmarked social performance reports, with accompanying insights, to help our clients demonstrate and improve social performance.

By making impact measurement simple, scalable, and comparable, we not only enable organizations to improve their products and services; we also help transform what it means to credibly measure impact, ensuring that the voices of those who matter most are always part of the story.

About the Role

We are a fast-growing, mission-driven, B2B company working with the world’s leading impact investors, companies, foundations and nonprofits who are looking to create positive social impact.

The Business Analyst will focus on managing, documenting and improving data processes, tools, and products, to ensure data quality, integrity, and usability. Collaborating with our Client Services, Product, and engineering teams, you will manage and deliver data requests to the required specifications, the maintenance of internally-used data products, and quality assurance of client-facing data products.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor compliance with 60dB’s data flow processes and tooling to ensure accurate capture of all data types.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data processes, tools, and workflows to ensure consistency and knowledge transfer.
  • Identify and address issues related to data quality and integrity, while proactively seeking opportunities to enhance tools and processes.
  • Support the ongoing organization and cleaning of data as new issues arise, ensuring consistency and reliability.
  • Oversee the accuracy and currency of 60dB Benchmarks and other data-related products.
  • Implement updates and improvements to 60dB Benchmarks dashboards in collaboration with the Services team.
  • Manage requests for data exports, including data transformation, filtering, and blending to meet requirements.
  • Support quality assurance processes to verify data accuracy and calculation integrity.
  • Assist the Product team in rolling out data-related products to clients, ensuring seamless delivery.
  • Track the performance of data products and tools, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Proactively support the team in completing special projects where relevant.
  • Model our company values.

About You

You balance analytical rigor with practical decision-making, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a focus on delivering value. You thrive in collaboration, enabling teams to leverage data effectively while continuously refining your skills and growing from feedback.

Other characteristics that will help you succeed in this role and be a great cultural fit: you have a bias towards action—you get your hands dirty—and you actively tackle problems in ways that lead to great outcomes. You successfully balance flexibility and rigor, and embrace taking strategic risks and growing from mistakes. Ultimately, you are eager to do the work to build something new and (we hope) important to the world.

  • Hands-on experience with data cleaning, organizing, and transforming large datasets to meet specific needs or export requirements, ensuring accuracy and usability.
  • Proven success in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth data operations and drive improvements.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for automating data processes, performing advanced data analysis, and building custom data solutions.
  • Strong experience in querying and manipulating databases to extract, aggregate, and transform data to meet specific needs.
  • Excellent proficiency in using Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis, including complex formulas, integrations, and custom macros/scripts.

  • Impeccable attention to detail and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fast self-learner, with aptitude and interest in learning about new technologies.
  • Critical thinking, with the ability to identify roadblocks and potential solutions, evaluate if a solution is fit-for-purpose, seek alternatives when it’s not.
