Business Affair Lawyer - Music Industry

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Business Affairs Lawyer with a passion for music law to join our DMC Team in Istanbul.

You will report directly to Managing Director Turkey and in dotted line to the Chief Legal Officer of Believe based in France. You will also work closely with all business teams of DMC in Turkey and the Central Legal Department in France.

Role & Responsibilities:

1. Contract drafting and negotiation: Primarily handling contracts signings for DMC, you will be in charge of conducting successful negotiations with our clients artists and labels in close collaboration with our sales department. As a business partner you will embrace new challenges with efficient and innovative solutions leading to the closing of the deals. Range of music related contracts includes notably publishing agreements, licensing agreements, etc.

2. Artist Relations: Build and maintain relationships with writers, performers, record labels, music publishers, and other industry professionals to facilitate smooth collaborations and partnerships.

3. Business Partner: Work closely with sales team to help them navigate and execute our contracts as well as to provide them enlightened support to develop DMC’s activity through the innovative music tech industry.

4. Litigation & Risk management: Secure the good development of the company’s business by assessing risks and providing strategic mitigation solutions.

Defend the company’s interest in its relation to the clients and identify improvements in the company’s good practices and processes.

Legal Compliance: Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards impacting the music industry, and implement the guidelines, processes and policies set up by the Believe Group, as adapted where applicable to comply with the laws of Turkish jurisdiction 6. Project Management: Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution, efficient resource allocation, and successful delivery.

. Team Collaboration:

As a local team member of an international group you will collaborate closely with local teams based in Turkey or in other offices of the group, including sync, rights, marketing, finance, and creative departments, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of business strategies.

As a lawyer you work in autonomy while ensuring a strong collaboration and coordination with Central legal department so that all practices are aligned, relevant information is shared, and approval are obtained where necessary and you will join the inspiring international community of business lawyers deployed over the world.

- Lawyer degree with at least 7-8 years of in house and/or private practice experience in Turkish law in the music or entertainment industry and in international environments (knowledge in UK law will be a plus)

- Fluent in Turkish and English

- Experience in managing and tracking corporate processes (e.g., general assembly meetings, registration-announcement processes, notary procedures, internal practices/announcements)

- Legal expertise in the areas of music, film, production, and cinema industries

- Knowledge of the advertising industry, experience in influencer marketing, and understanding of related legal frameworks will be preferrable

- Strong business acumen: Business facilitator, showing a solution-oriented spirit to support managing and closing a deal

- Possesses a solid understanding of legal and contractual frameworks in the music industry, including copyright, licensing, and intellectual property matters

- Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and agreements, with strong attention to detail and excellent negotiation skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills that enable to communicate efficiently at different levels of the Believe Group in an international context, as well as to build and maintain relationships with artists, industry professionals, and internal/external stakeholders

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to assess risks and provide strategic recommendations for business decisions

- Thrive in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment, embracing new challenges and displaying flexibility in responding to evolving industry trends and business needs

- The preferred candidate should exhibit a natural ability and familiarity with a tech-driven environment notably through usage of contracting and CRM tools, excellent abilities with digital platforms and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

- Understand scalability challenges related to contracts operation and the need for contract standardization
