Build Engineer Java (Maven or Gradle)

We're looking for a Build Engineer with Java expertise, particularly in Maven or Gradle, to take charge of our build environment as part of an agile development team. Expect a role where you'll be hands-on with IDE plug-ins, Domain Specific Languages, and our own frameworks and compilers, always aiming to enhance their capabilities. Your key task

  • Oversee the monitoring of Continuous Integration (CI) servers to ensure maximum uptime and reliability. Troubleshoot and address any build failures to maintain a smooth development process.
  • Develop and maintain robust automated build systems using Maven or Gradle. Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and enhance the build process. Automate the creation of detailed build reports and essential documentation. Streamline and perfect build pipelines within Jenkins for maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure precise versioning of dependencies to achieve reproducible builds and collaborate with security teams to address any vulnerability concerns.
  • Manage release calendars to ensure upcoming deployments are tracked and communicated clearly to product owners. Document both release procedures and outcomes for thorough record-keeping and reference.
  • Configure and maintain development, test, and production environments in sync with product teams' needs. Establish IDE configurations and settings for development teams. Integrate code quality and security analysis tools into the build environment. Keep environment configuration documentation up-to-date.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years with Java development
  • 2+ years with build automation tools like Maven or Gradle
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket, GitHub)
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools like Jenkins or Bamboo
  • Knowledge of bash or other shell scripting languages
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and address build failures
  • History of enhancing IDE plug-in and compiler capabilities within a team as a plus
  • Experience in software testing is a plus
