The Accountant is primarily responsible for facilitating and overseeing the organization-wide budgeting processes. This role involves guiding each central and campus team to ensure the optimal and responsible stewardship of resources. Additionally, the accountant will be responsible for preparing and analyzing organizational financial documents to ensure accuracy of records. This role will assist with financial entries, financial reconciliations, and support organizational procedures. The Accountant utilizes their skillset to deliver outcomes that align with the direction of their team to further Life.Church’s mission and to reach people for Christ.

The Finance Team partners with the organization to facilitate the financial reporting needs of Life.Church, including payroll, accounts payable, giving operations, accounting, forecasting, and data analytics. We equip the organization with the tools needed to plan for, understand, and steward the resources God has provided for our ministry.

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate the organizational budgeting process
  • Communicate key budget dates and resources to all Central and Campus budget owners on an ongoing basis.
  • Serve as a resource for any budget-related inquiries and provide support as needed.
  • Facilitate reconciliations of operating budgets in the budgeting and accounting systems.
  • Lead through the budget revision process.
  • Lead monthly statement of activity analysis along with other financial statement analysis.
  • Communicate with various teams to understand and explain budget variances.
  • Act as a budget software administrator, ensuring the organization is aware of system usage and updates.
  • Coordinate tasks for closing financial statements each month.
  • Prepare and analyze various reconciliations and schedules monthly.
  • Lead in preparing the organizational annual audit and quarterly published financial statements.
  • Review peer reconciliations, financial statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy.

Skills Needed to Succeed

  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions and problem-solve with innovation.
  • Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
  • Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA eligibility preferred.
  • 1 -3 years of related work experience.
