Brand Writer

OVERVIEW

Modern Treasury is hiring a passionate Brand Writer to join our growing marketing team. This person will play a critical role in defining and driving the content strategy for Modern Treasury. A natural storyteller, you will focus on developing, editing, and delivering innovative content that engages our key audiences, delivers consistent messaging that fuels our growth and generates demand.

This role requires a mix of strategic and creative strengths, helping us build the foundation of our content engine and position it to scale, while also exploring new and innovative ways to engage and delight our prospects and bring them into our funnel. You’ll establish best practices for the brand while also shaping the culture and direction of the team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll collaborate with the stakeholders across the company like Sales, Product, Customer Success and your marketing colleagues mining ideas and managing campaigns that bring Modern Treasury’s value to life.  You’ll become an expert on our target personas and use cases.

We are looking for someone with strong communication skills and a gift for taking complex issues or technical products and making them easy to understand and engage with. You’re a persuasive communicator with the ability to write thoughtful, specific and detailed copy (bonus points if you have a background in journalism).

Above all, we are looking for an individual with a winning mix of curiosity and creativity; genuine interest in becoming an expert on technical products; comfort managing multiple concurrent projects; a love of writing; ability to flourish in an ambiguous and fast-paced startup environment; and wholehearted empathy for our customers and their users. 

While our products are technical, this role doesn’t require a technical background. 

ABOUT MODERN TREASURY

Modern Treasury is the operating system for Money Movement. Our suite of APIs move finance and product teams forward with faster payments, automatic reconciliation, and real-time financial data. Our tools automate the full cycle of money movement—from payment initiation through approvals, to reconciliation.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3-5 years of professional writing experience spanning corporate content creation or journalism. 

• Experience working on go-to-market for a B2B software company.

• BA or BS required.

WEEK BY WEEK

During your first week you will:

• Onboard with our team.

• Start learning our product inside out and backwards.

• Develop an understanding of our key customer persona and stakeholders.

• Read our favorite industry primers. 

• Build an understanding of our customers and go-to-market motion.

During your first six weeks you will:

• Develop a detailed understanding of Payments and the Modern Treasury platform.

• Go deep on our messaging, positioning. 

• Meet with key teams to understand the trends and types of content that support their efforts and drive thought leadership.

• Explore key use cases of the Modern Treasury platform. 

• Write your first customer case study and articles for the Journal and Learn and begin developing and executing ideas and concepts for our content calendar.

• Contribute creative ideas to support our content goals and that positively impact our core metrics including leads, inbound traffic, and more.

During your first six months you will:

• Be a core part of Modern Treasury’s voice, delivering inspiring content and building a strong content engine. 

• You are embedded with your Growth and PMM team colleagues to ensure that the brand/content team is fueling our growth and supporting our funnel. 

• Use journalistic techniques to interview leaders and content experts to gather compelling information that can translate to both short and long form content.

• Building inspired campaigns that bring together multiple types of content to drive home a specific theme or topic to our key audiences.
