We’re looking for talented individuals interested in joining a growing global company. At Slang, you’ll be part of a global, well-funded startup spun out of MIT. We’re building a world-class team to revolutionize language learning with cutting-edge technology and delightful design.
What we’re working on at Slang
Slang started at MIT as a research project on using AI and NLP to make learning a new language as efficient as possible. Our technology powers a highly adaptive e-learning platform that offers an unprecedented variety of specialized English courses and proficiency tests for career development in over one hundred fields like Sales, Finance, Logistics, Medicine, and Law. With just a small team, we’ve already created the largest professional English offering in the world.
What this role is about
We’re a company in our growth stage, focusing on refining a business model for a novel SaaS product focused on B2B segments.
As a Brand Design Intern, you will work closely with other teams and contribute to the evolution of our brand language across all touch-points, creating engaging and cohesive experiences. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include creating visual assets (video, brochures, presentations, social media posts), producing layouts for various projects, and assisting in maintaining our brand consistency and cohesiveness, ensuring that our users have experiences that are unmistakable "us".
Some projects you may work on:
- Assist in maintaining a design language that expresses the brand through all product and marketing channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including sales, customer success, product, and engineering—to design and contribute to exciting projects such as onboarding materials and engaging presentations for potential clients, learners, and our internal team.
- Assist with creating visual assets for social media channels like Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Provide design support for events and conferences, such as booth design and promotional materials.
- Maintained and organized the digital asset library, ensuring all assets were easily accessible and current.
What you will achieve as a Brand Design Intern
- Gain hands-on experience by getting involved with all visual experiences from product to marketing.
- Get exposure to all aspects of the brand design process from start to finish, working alongside experienced professionals and learning from their expertise.
- Help develop and execute design strategies that impact the business’s success, contributing to the growth and evolution of the brand.
- Learn how to manage and apply the brand identity in different contexts that are bigger than design.
Skills and technologies
- Currently pursuing a degree in graphic design, communication, or a related field, but we’re also open to self-taught talents with a strong portfolio.+
- University approval to complete your internship.
- Strong visual design skills with a passion for branding, typography, color, and layout, along with familiarity with design trends and best practices for both print and digital media.
- Solid understanding of social media trends, and a strong foundation in design principles with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Adobe CC, and Canva.
- Capacity to take direction and incorporate feedback into designs.
- Upper-Intermediate or higher (B2) level of English.
