About the Role

An independent author is seeking a talented mid-level illustrator to create artwork for a book about food. The selected candidate will be responsible for producing illustrations in a watercolour or coloured pencil style that complement the book's content and visually engage the reader. This is a remote project with the potential for follow-up work based on the illustrator's performance.

Responsibilities:

• Create original illustrations in a watercolour or coloured pencil style that align with the book's theme and content
• Work closely with the author to understand the desired aesthetic, mood, and composition of the illustrations
• Deliver high-quality, digitised illustrations that meet the author's specifications
• Incorporate feedback and revise illustrations as needed to ensure they meet the author's vision

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience as a professional illustrator, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in watercolor or colored pencil techniques
• Excellent drawing and painting skills, with the ability to create detailed, realistic, and visually appealing illustrations
• Proficiency in digital illustration software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or Krita
• Keen eye for composition, color, and the ability to translate the author's vision into engaging visual elements
