Blush Lane is looking for an Assistant Store Manager to join our growing team at the Whyte Ave location (8135-102 Street NW, Edmonton).
The Assistant Store Manager, reporting to and working closely with the Store Manager, is essential for leading employees and making sure the store runs smoothly. They coordinate the tasks of employees and make sure that store’s policies and regulations are followed. They are a key piece in team motivation by praising top performers and rewarding where applicable. The Assistant Store Manager is expected to be able to fulfil Store Manager’s duties in their absence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be a customer service champion by building relationships and asking questions.
- Support the hiring and training of new employees on overall store operations and department specific tasks.
- Ensure that all staff are sales-driven, and customer service focused.
- Coach, train, manage and schedule all cashiers shifts for optimal customer service experience.
- Stocking and merchandizing shelves and creating impressive, eye catching displays.
- Establish and maintain good relations with suppliers, sales representatives, and other retailers.
- Oversee grocery department operations including hiring, training, ordering, etc.
Store Opera
tions:
- Monitor display accuracy and appearance. Ensure that products are properly displayed and ordered to maintain in-stock conditions.
- Oversee the management and monitor the handling of cash and accounting procedures.
- Serve as a role model in providing exceptional customer service.
Leadership:
- Direct a team of department managers and supervisors; this includes responsibility for hiring & terminations, performance management, succession planning and professional development in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Refer contentious or complex employee issues to the Store Manager.
- Set performance expectations. Provide encouragement and honest feedback on performance matters.
- Create succession plans for leadership positions in the store. This includes creating developmental plans for employees identified as potential leaders and ensuring they are prepared for a promotion.
- Act as a resource to all managers in performing their jobs.
- Acknowledge, recognize, and reward employees for outstanding performance or contributions.
- Constantly monitor and take action to ensure a healthy, respectful, safe, and pleasant workplace for all employees.
- Identify, plan, or support team building opportunities.
