Real-World Evidence at Costello Medical

Our Real-World Evidence (RWE) team is growing quickly through demand from both new and existing clients, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Coordinator to join our friendly and collaborative team. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of Costello Medical’s RWE service offering.

Our RWE team contribute to the design, execution and subsequent reporting of prospective, retrospective or cross-sectional real-world studies. They develop protocols and statistical analysis plans (in collaboration with our Statisticians, clients and external experts), acquire and analyse data, and communicate the methodologies and results in both written and oral formats. Studies include data from patient registries, claims databases, prospective studies or any other source of real-world data, and involve a wide range of research questions on burden of disease, clinical effectiveness or economic topics, among others.

With the unprecedented growth in demand for RWE, which is increasingly used to guide global decision-making, Costello Medical is expanding its services to support the setup and management of new RWE studies across our global office locations. We are seeking an experienced and proactive individual to enhance our study setup capabilities, including ethics applications and site support.

About the Role

Following the exciting development of the launch of our new Shanghai office, we are recruiting for our first Clinical Research Coordinator to join us there as we develop our work for clients based in the region. You will work closely with our experienced global team, including colleagues in Singapore who are currently delivering work for our clients in China, as well as colleagues in our UK offices.

This is an exciting time to join the Costello Medical team as we are expanding in Shanghai, Singapore and internationally. This growth has been driven by our commitment to delivering exceptional levels of customer service and high-quality work. You will work in project teams alongside colleagues from all specialities to ensure that RWE projects are completed to an exceptionally high standard, on time and in line with client expectations.

You will receive one-to-one training on the technical aspects of the role, including project management and effective client communication. Delivering project work requires close collaboration with clients, and following a successful induction period you will increasingly participate in meetings with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be someone who shows the potential to progress rapidly and who, with close mentoring, could take on project management and client responsibility in six to twelve months.

Our team typically work on several projects at one time and the results of each analysis can feed into publications, value materials, health economic models or health technology assessment submissions. You will therefore be exposed to a wide variety of the services offered by Costello Medical and a broad range of therapeutic areas.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ethics and Regulatory Compliance
    • Prepare and submit ethics applications and other regulatory documents to ensure compliance with local and international regulations
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure all studies adhere to these standards
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    • Oversee data collection, entry, and management for studies conducted in China, ensuring accuracy and completeness
    • Collaborate with statisticians and analysts to perform data analysis and prepare comprehensive reports of study findings
  • Study Coordination and Management:
    • Coordinate the design, execution, and reporting of RWE studies specific to the China market
    • Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure high-quality and timely completion of projects
  • Site Setup and Support:
    • Identify and coordinate with clinical research sites in China, ensuring all necessary infrastructure and protocols are in place
    • Facilitate smooth setup and ongoing support for the duration of the study
  • Training and Development:
    • Advise clients and internal members of the project team to ensure that best practices and industry standards are adhered to, including completing and advising on external trainings to ensure Costello Medical’s compliance with the latest best practice
    • Create and deliver internal training to support others in developing their expertise in RWE and Market Research studies
  • Help to maintain the positive, friendly and collaborative environment within the company
  • Contribute to the wider aims of the company wherever possible and aligned to individual interests

About You

This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior to mid-level Clinical Research professional to utilise a range of skills in a role that requires a passion for real-world evidence study paired with an entrepreneurial flair. As this is a priority growth area for the company, there is an opportunity for the successful candidate to establish themselves and drive the establishment and expansion of RWE studies within Costello Medical.

We are looking for individuals who are collaborative, self-motivated and enthusiastic with a strong and demonstrable background within the healthcare industry and/or pharmaceutical research, with a focus on real-world data.

As we are looking to expand our services in this new area of RWE, it is crucial that this individual is entrepreneurial and able to drive forwards and grow our capabilities.

You will take pride in producing exceptionally high-quality work and will relish the opportunity to build successful client relationships. You will identify and capitalise on opportunities to go above and beyond for clients and exceed their expectations wherever possible.

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in clinical research or a related field, with a focus on study set-up, ethical approval, and project management. Experience in managing studies through their full lifecycle is advantageous
  • Prior experience of working in investigator site management, including conducting monitoring visits, from either a pharmaceutical company or a CRO environment
  • Familiarity with the China market is desirable. Experience in additional markets would be beneficial
  • A degree level qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum second upper honours, GPA 4/5, CAP 4/5 or equivalent). We welcome applications from candidates with a diverse range of specialisms, including but not limited to; biology, life science, epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health
  • A comprehensive understanding of RWE or clinical research methods and study designs, with a willingness to further develop this knowledge
  • Experience in working collaboratively within a team and supporting the development of junior colleagues or team members
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely delivery of projects
  • The capacity to maintain exceptional customer service and quality of deliverables under multiple competing demands
  • An exceptional written and spoken fluency in Mandarin (equivalent to native Mandarin language skills) and excellent written and spoken fluency in English in order to deliver client work across Asia, with a focus on China
  • Strong scientific writing skills with the ability to tailor writing style to different audiences
  • Experience in communicating directly with clients, including responding to different communication styles, as well as a proven ability to build robust and sustainable client relationships

The Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process includes a video interview, as well as an assessment for you to complete in your own time.   • A starting salary of RMB 14,000 per month. However we may be able to offer a higher starting salary for more experienced candidates. Salary increases are typically awarded annually and again on promotion, which can be achieved in as little as 12 months
