Job Overview:

The Bidding & Estimating Manager will oversee the preparation, submission, and management of bids and cost estimates for projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and leadership capabilities to ensure competitive and profitable proposals. The manager will work closely with internal teams, clients, and vendors to develop accurate estimates and strategic pricing while maintaining compliance with company and industry standards. A key requirement for this role is the ability to read and interpret construction plans to ensure precise cost assessments and project feasibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the bidding and estimating process for projects.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates based on project scope, materials, labor, and other factors.
  • Analyze bid requirements, contract terms, and specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to develop precise estimates.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, finance, and operations teams to gather necessary data.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities to improve bid competitiveness.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Track market trends, competitor pricing, and industry developments.
  • Maintain and improve estimating tools, databases, and processes.
  • Provide reporting and insights to senior management on bid success rates and strategy effectiveness.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in bidding, estimating, or cost analysis within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Possess a strong background in bidding and estimating management, with expertise in the principles and methodologies of the U.S. construction industry. In-depth knowledge of California construction codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and project management tools.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
