Requirements
- Conducts functional behavior assessments, accurately identifying the function of challenging behavior and socially valid, pivotal behaviors to target.
- Attend IEP, eligibility, or other meetings as necessary and provide related behavioral information.
- Work with students who exhibit maladaptive/unexpected behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who work with such students.
- Provide assistance with individualized programmed materials for students needing additional behavior support.
- Maintain accurate records and daily/weekly tracking sheets for student progress.
- Assist with progress monitoring for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Support education demonstrations as needed.
- Respond to, de-escalate, and intervene in student conflicts and altercations.
- Collaborate with other school staff to reinforce expectations for all students.
Behavior Specialist on the Culture Team:
- Support school-wide systems, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, and activity blocks/detention.
- Uphold a positive school culture in hallways, particularly during transitions.
- Assist deans in addressing requests from teachers regarding student behavior.
- Respond to, de-escalate, and intervene in student conflicts and altercations.
- Supervise student consequences and restorative practices, such as after-school reflection and In-School Suspension (ISS).
- Maintain accurate records of student behavior in DeansList.
- Assist the Deans in organizing and implementing school-wide initiatives and events.
- Research, recommend, develop, and implement new initiatives to strengthen student success.
- Provide orientation for new students, familiarizing them with behavioral norms.
- Motivate students to engage in social and cultural activities organized by the school.
- Education: Master's Degree in applied behavior analysis, special education, psychology or related discipline.
Certification: Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA, as certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
Qualifications:
- ABS training.
- Experience working with students requiring behavior support.
- High expectations for each student and the ability to build positive rapport.
- Ability to intervene in physical altercations as necessary.

- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
- Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
