Battery Electrical Power Distribution Engineer
Responsibilities
•The design, release, and supplier production of high voltage battery components for battery energy storage system systems, including power cabling and connectors, bus bars, fuses, contactors, and other associated high power bussing components
•Work with Design Engineers and/or suppliers to develop sub-system design
•Prepare and document component technical specifications
•Work with suppliers and manufacturing team to apply design for manufacturing and design for assembly best practices
•Work with suppliers to meet design requirements, component timing, and achieve cost targets
•Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to solve development and testing issues
•Support Procurement team in component sourcing activities
•Manage supplier DFMEA/PMEA development
•Support component change management process
•Support design reviews and program milestone presentations
•Support cost and performance optimization in component design
•Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
•Travel as needed up to 20% to business sites to assist with component related issues, testing, and qualification.
•Previous Experience in the release of high voltage battery module components in energy storage or automotive applications preferred.
Skills/Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
•Strong understanding of high voltage battery engineering
•Experience in product engineering design release and validation
•4+ years in product development of high voltage battery pack components or subsystems
•Familiarity with CAD, and CAE and sizing high current bussing systems
•Proficient computer skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data
•Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
•Demonstrated ability to create and share presentations to team members
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with local and international team members
•Action oriented, self-starter that will take the initiative
•Prioritization and decision-making skills
