What you will be doing

This is an exciting time to join Breathe. You will be making tangible advances in our cutting-edge products which are used by some of the world's largest and most recognised brands in automotive and consumer electronics.

We are looking for an experienced manager to lead our algorithm development team. The ideal candidate will balance using their deep technical knowledge to advance our products with building and maintaining a productive team of engineers. You’ll work with teams across the business, understanding the needs of our customers and developing novel solutions to their challenges, before supporting our controls engineers in integrating these into our products.

This is a unique opportunity for someone to drive meaningful commercial outcomes for both Breathe and our customers as we look to accelerate the electrification of everything. We'll intentionally support opportunities for you to develop, be that courses, conferences, mentorship or something else.

Your responsibilities

  • Coach junior members of the algorithm development team, fostering their professional growth and drive their overall skill development
  • Design, develop, and test battery algorithm features, including creating technical specifications and prototypes. Work closely with the control software experts in the design and integration process.
  • Address and resolve technical challenges that arise in development projects, using your expertise in battery electrochemical, mechanical and thermal behaviours.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and incorporating new concepts, tools, and methodologies to enhance both our products and our development process
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, facilitating knowledge sharing and retention within the team and ensuring future reference. 

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience in the lithium-ion battery or related industry
  • A deep understanding of battery degradation
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Proven track record of team building and management
  • Experience with Python or C++ is a plus but not essential
  • Experience in Battery Management Systems (BMS) is a plus but not essential
  • A focus on business success and productivity
