Banning Lewis Academy is seeking a highly qualified Social Worker in Colorado Springs, CO.

The main tasks of the School Social Worker are to help students and families make the best use of available opportunities and resources to fully develop each student's individual potential. The School Social Worker brings to the educational process an understanding of the psychosocial development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences as they interact with the educational process. The School Social Worker will link child-serving and community agencies to the schools and families to support the child's academic, emotional, behavioral, and social success. The School Social Worker displays personal qualities appropriate for a professional, such as maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality, openness to learning from others and accepting constructive criticism/feedback.

At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our Capturing Kid’s Hearts Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and programs as LEAD our leadership development program, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

About the Opportunity:
The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   • Provides consultative support to school administrators, counselors and teachers around at-risk populations.
  • Provides skill building and psychoeducational through individual and group work. Assists with social, emotional and behavioral problems. Uses a variety of techniques to achieve improvement.
  • Coordinates school, home and community services toward solutions of students' problems through the use of MTSS.
  • Supports and monitors behavioral interventions to promote positive student outcomes through the MTSS process.
  • Maintains liaison between school, family and community agencies and assists in better use of services available to students, families and school. Assigned Principal or Administrator School Social Worker To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Consults with administrators, teachers, support staff, other colleagues and parents.
  • Assists in developing positive behavior interventions. Suggests strategies for managing conflict and providing behavior support.
  • Provides crisis intervention services regarding child abuse, suicide/threat assessments and family emergencies.
  • Gathers, integrates and interprets information relative to student behavior related to learning.
  • Meets on a regular basis for case management review, consultation, and as part of the Care Team.
  • Performs related record keeping including Medicaid.
  • Participates in or leads required in-service trainings and meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledgeable in working with students that demonstrate a wide range of academic, social/emotional and behavior needs.

About You:

  • Graduate degree in social work preferred.
  • Strong candidate possessing a graduate degree in school psychology, education, or related field considered
  • Three years of experience in a school setting.
  • Two years of experience working with at-risk youth population.
  • Experience working with community agencies such as DHS, law enforcement, public health.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, including Problem Solving Team Process, progress monitoring and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent social/emotional development.
  • Knowledge of general organization and functions of a public school system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with students, parents, and community groups.
  • Good organization and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates accomplishments in keeping professionally current.
  • Knowledge of data collection and the ability to interpret data.
  • Knowledge of research supported interventions related to academic, social and behavioral concerns.
  • Ability to be flexible in order to meet the unique needs of the assignment.
  • Appropriate CDE license required
  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license required for hire
  • Certification in CPI preferred
