About the Team

The Part-Time Lunch Aide at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, will help with the transition of students to/from the lunchroom. They will also assist students the orderly procurement of their lunches. The Aide will help supervise students while eating to assure that they are orderly, safe, and mannerly during the lunchtime which may include both indoor and outdoor supervision. The Aide will work with students to learn appropriate lunchroom etiquette, good manners, cleaning up after themselves, and encouraging appropriate, positive intermingling of students.

At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our Capturing Kid’s Hearts Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and programs as LEAD our leadership development program, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

 

About the Opportunity:

Responsibilities and qualities of the Lunch Aide include-

  • Monitoring and assisting students at lunch and recess.
  • Assisting younger children in getting lunch trays, milk and condiments.
  • Monitoring student behavior and providing appropriate discipline as necessary within guidelines of school rules.
  • Assisting students in cleaning up after themselves (spills, wiping tables, disposing of trash, etc).
  • Helping to wash tables, pick up floor trash and ready condiments between lunch sessions and after lunch period.
  • Monitoring students for safety and appropriate behavior on the playground.
  • Helping maintain the cleanliness of the classroom, lunchroom and other school areas.
  • Understanding, accepting, abiding by, and implementing the school’s philosophy and mission statement in all school activities.
  • Working cooperatively with lunch and recess employees.
  • Acting in accordance with directives from the Administrator (or designee).
  • Contributing to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards.
  • Hours are 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday - Friday
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You:

  • Successful completion of BCI/FBI check
  • Ability to meet educational standards as applicable
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Understanding and ability to manage confidential information.
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical ability to lift 25-40 lbs
  • Experience in a school or social services setting is a plus
