As an Azure Engineer you’ll work across monitoring and incident management, infrastructure as code (IaC), performance and reliability engineering, and security and compliance.
A typical day would include:
- Troubleshooting and resolving production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on customers
- Developing and managing Azure infrastructure using tools such as: Terraform, ARM templates, Azure Resource manager or similar
- Implementing best practices to optimise system performance, high availability and business continuity in Azure
- Maintaining security practices and compliance requirements such as identity and access management, encryption, network security and related areas
- Documenting procedures and configurations and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer or similar role
- Applied expertise in Microsoft Azure across services such as: Azure App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions and Azure DevOps
- Confidently share knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks i.e. ISO 27001, GDPR and ITIL
- Have the desire to operate in a quick-moving environment and leverage your methodical attitude to create solutions
- Be self-assured in your communication techniques and teamwork abilities
Alongside what is outlined in qualifications we also require individuals to have active hands-on experience of at least two of the following:
- Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, BICEP/ARM templates, or CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps
- Solid understanding of networking, load balancing, DNS, and firewall management in cloud environments
Location: This career is hybrid with an expectation to visit a customer site or a Version 1 office as required. The team are currently doing this once per month. We have offices based in: Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Newcastle Upon Tyne.
