The Data Engineer’s role is to design data modeling/analysis services used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes. This individual is also responsible for assisting in building, deploying, and maintaining data engineering solutions, data engineering best practices, and Master Data Management processes.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Devise, develop, and deploy required data engineering solutions in response to business user needs.
- In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models, EL/ELT processes, and toolsets for mining production databases.
Operational Management
- Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing repositories and systems.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certifications
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or statistics, and/or 5+ years of equivalent work experience.
- One or more Certifications to include Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate, and/or SAS Certified Advanced Analytics Professional required.
Knowledge & Experience
- Strong understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices to include Dimensional Modeling approaches such as Kimball or Inmon.
- Strong T-SQL knowledge.
- Excellent knowledge of data modeling tools such as Erwin, SQL DBM, or Toad Data Modeler.
- Expertise in data analysis, preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.
- Working experience with relational database servers and raw data storage to include Azure Synapse or Azure SQL DB and Azure Data Lake.
