AWS Cloud & Observability Engineer

In a nutshell

As a AWS Cloud & Observability Engineer, you will be a key part of the Operations Team;  supporting the LIMS and supporting applications lifecycle, cloud migration, observability and modernization. You will be implementing best cloud and DevOps practices, accelerating the deployment of standard processes across its laboratories.

Where will you be based and what business will you support?

Based in Lisbon, you will be part of a globally distributed team that support the Clinical Diagnostics business through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); which is in development to be deployed across our European clinical laboratories and will be hosted in AWS and On Premise.

How can you help us? 

You will:

 

  • Be involved in application lifecycle management, configuration management, and build and release process management for the clinical suite of applications.
  • Become a cloud DevOps practitioner to:
    • Work closely with program and application architects.
    • Develop and enhance Infrastructure as Code.
    • Deploy applications on Cloud infrastructure using IaC.
    • Aid in designing deployment plans for AWS & On-Premises platforms.
    • Help bring Development and Operation teams together.
  • Contribute to technical activities from the DevOps backlog.
  • Help team members adapt to new ways of working.
  • Support the application lifecycle and operational tasks.
  • Maintain and extend both the technical documentation and DevOps guidelines.
  • Act as part of the Clinical LIMS L3 Support Team.
  • Provide operational support to the various Program agile teams.
  • Acquire and keep expanding functional knowledge of the Eurofins IT Application landscape, starting with the Clinical LIMS and application suite.
  • Plan and Operate Observability platforms for the Clinical LIMS IT Application stack.

 

Are you our kind of extraordinary?

You have:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an Enterprise DevOps and/or cloud migration context.
  • Experience Cloud infrastructure and administration; 
  • Containerization experience : Docker, Kubernetes, EKS;
  • On-prem infrastructure and administration; 
  • Experience in Deploy and release tools and best practices:
  • Experience in Operational procedures: procurement, installation, monitoring, support, etc.;
  • Experience in Scripting: PowerShell, bash, etc.;
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code; 
  • Experience with Database administration: Microsoft SQL Server; Oracle DB; 
  • Experience in Configuration management (with CMDB); 
  • Observability and monitoring knowledge; 
  • A bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science or similar.

What else should I know? 

The following skills are an advantage:

 

  • Core experience in AWS is preferred;
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy, etc.;
  • IaC with Terraform (Cloud);
  • Observability with Grafana is ideal.
